Worlds Apart

It was only last night we played a live show and I dedicated one of our songs to the vegetarians and those who care about animal rights. The audience cheered and weird as it may seem, the hardcore punk scene is a context which allows this kind of progressive thinking. Unfortunately now I am back again in the 'real' world, where treatιng animals with absolute cruelty is just the norm. Seeing horrible pictures of tortured animals on the Internet just leaves me thinking how few of us are those who care are and how many the uneducated and heartless are. Still, we're gonna FIGHT against apathy!

Mόλις χθες παίξαμε ένα live και αφιέρωσα ένα από τα τραγούδια μας στους παρευρισκόμενους χορτοφάγους και αυτούς που στηρίζουν τα δικαιώματα των ζώων. Παράξενο και αν ακούγεται, ένας χώρος όπως το hardcore punk μπορεί και δημιουργεί το πλαίσιο για προοδευτικούς τρόπους σκέψης όπως ο βιγκανισμός. Δυστυχώς όμως, τώρα βρίσκομαι και πάλι στον 'πραγματικό' κόσμο, όπου το να συμεριφέρεσαι στα μη ανθρώπινα ζώα με απόλυτη σκληρότητα είναι απλά κάτι το συνηθισμένο και αποδεκτό. Βλέποντας φωτογραφίες βασανισμένων ζώων στο Internet με αφήνει να σκέφτομαι πόσοι λίγοι είμαστε αυτοί που νοιαζόμαστε και πόσοι πολλοί είναι οι αμόρφωτοι και οι άκαρδοι. Κι όμως... ΠΟΛΕΜΑΜΕ ενάντια στην απάθεια!

Fools Gold (A Vegan Poem)

This vegan poem has to do with the way we see society as a fake industry of ideas, emotions and values that do not stand for real happiness. It is dedicated to the cynics who only care about satisfying their taste, with their only criticism of vegetarianism being that meat "just tastes good". These are people we don't waste any energy talking to.

Αυτό το βίγκαν ποίημα μιλά για τον τρόπο που βλέπουμε την κοινωνία: σαν μια βιομηχανία ψεύτικων ιδεών, συναισθημάτων και αξιών που δεν έχουν τίποτα να κάνουν με την πραγματική ευτυχία. Είναι αφιερωμένο σε αυτους τους κυνικούς που ενδιαφέρονται μόνο για την ικανοποίηση της γεύσης τους, των οποίων η μόνη κριτική της χορτοφαγίας είναι ότι το κρέας είναι "πολύ νόστιμο". Δεν  υπάρχει λόγος να σπαταλάμε ενέργεια συζητώντας για τα δικαιώματα των ζώων με τέτοια άτομα.

Είναι ώρα να ξυπνήσουμε, να κοιτάξουμε στον καθρέφτη και να δούμε πώς ο εθισμός μας - είτε σωματικός είτε ψυχολογικός - μας κατατρώει καθημερινά. Είναι ώρα να δούμε πόση ζημιά έχουμε κάνει στους εαυτούς μας... και να ΑΛΛΑΞΟΥΜΕ!

Gorilla Biscuits - Cats and Dogs (Lyrics & Video)

'Cats and Dogs' is the last song from Gorilla Biscuits' classic 1989 album 'Start Today'. This song is a hymn for animal rights and vegetarianism. Along with Youth of Today's song 'No More', they are some of the first and most inspirational songs which brought veg(etari)anism in hardcore music.

Pets should not be the only animals who are treated fairly by us humans. Read the lyrics and listen to the song and you'll understand why.
